I’m always on the hunt for new nontoxic plant based skincare companies (that are actually effective of course 😉) and I’m excited to share I found another one!

ATZEN Skincare is an all natural company that prides themselves on offering customers high quality products.  How do I know they really are safe to use?  Because before I would ever recommend anything to you I research ingredients of course! 😊

I am required to say however, that as with any product (especially if pregnant or nursing) I recommend you consult with you physician/doctor before use.

Ok now that the legal stuff is out of the way, it is important to know that ‘Green Washing‘ is a real tactic used by companies to target the health based demographic. They do this by labeling their products with words like “all natural” even when their products are filled with super toxic chemicals. It’s pretty annoying that this is allowed.

Anyway, ATZEN isn’t an example of this. They are a plant based, cruelty free line that excludes parabens, carcinogens, hormone disrupters and petrochemicals. They combine organic plants with vitamin compounds to create effective solutions that slow down the aging process, combat acne and repair sun damaged skin.

ATZEN offers five different lines with a range of products in each, making it one of the more detailed orientated companies I’ve ever come across. They make it their mission to offer a variety of products geared to target your specific skincare needs. There’s seriously a product for everything!

The current lines offered are:

1.Balance (age reversal)

2. Purify (calm and clear)

3.Renew (exfoliate and brighten)

4.Protect (sun protection)

5.In Shape (slim and sensual)

You can click on the name to see the full range of products offered under each.  I personally started off trying the first item from their Purify line: The Cleansing Gel.

The ‘Cleansing Gel‘ would be considered their first step to healthy skin. It is designed to deep clean oil pollution in the pores, remove acne causing bacteria and lightly remove make up. Unlike many cleansers, this one is water based and contains no alcohol. This is important because it protects the skin’s natural acid mantel while maintaining hydration.

The cleanser comes in the form of a clear gel (as the name describes) and has a spearmint scent. As far as quantity – you get A LOT. This bottle will seriously last a while because you only need a tiny amount of the gel to thoroughly lather your face.

I’ve been using this first thing in the morning and it leaves my skin feeling squeaky fresh and clean without drying it out. I start by splashing water on my face and pouring a tiny amount onto my hand. Keep in mind the consistency is pretty runny so you really don’t even need to squeeze too hard or you’ll end up wasting a lot of product.

I then rub my hands together which creates a thin white foam and massage my face and neck in circular motions. I rinse and follow up with a toner and moisturizer and I’m ready to start my day!

I would consider myself to have combination skin – meaning portions of it are dry while other areas tend to be on the oily side (specifically my T Zone area). After having my son, my skin has also become more acne prone (sigh) so it’s really important that I stay on top of my skincare regiment. So far this cleanser is giving my skin exactly what it needs – hydration for the dry areas and balance in the oily. If you have skin similar to mine, or are acne prone in general, this would be a great fit for you!

Overall I would recommend this cleanser and will be sure to keep you updated on any other ATZEN products I try. I am especially interested in removing some acne scarring I’ve acquired and they of course have a product for this – Clear Serum. It’s also a part of the Purify line if you’re interested in learning more about it 😊
