Whitening my teeth naturally with activated charcoal [ft. Luxury Smile Club]

Let’s be honest, none of us would be mad if we had a set of pearly whites. What we may be upset about however, is the horrible chemicals companies are allowed to hide in their products that claim they can help to achieve this. Thankfully, there are plenty of natural solutions to this dilemma and activated charcoal is at the forefront.

If you’re not familiar with activated charcoal, it’s essentially just activated carbon absent of oxygen that is produced from a variety of natural sources and contains many benefits. In terms of body health, it is great for absorbing toxins from the body as it works as a binder, or magnet if you will. Some people take this in the form of capsules to aid with gut health or upset stomachs. Others rub it directly on their skin or use it for a slightly different reason all together – like teeth whitening.

I recently was contacted by a company called Luxury Smile Club to test out their charcoal and was so excited to learn that they obtained theirs from crushed coconut shells! How cool is that?!

The charcoal is basically just a fine black powder that is completely tasteless/odorless. The formula is great for anyone with sensitivity and helps to remove stains from your teeth after repeated use. They also included a biodegradable bamboo toothbrush which I love!

How I Brush

It’s important to note that this stuff can get messy so be very careful when handling the container and brushing in general. I personally like to do this over my kitchen sink as I’ve found it’s the easiest to avoid mess although brushing in your bathroom works fine too.

Begin by running your brush under the faucet to get it wet and follow up by dipping it into the container. You don’t need a ton, only enough to lightly coat your brush. Once it’s coated, carefully begin brushing while being mindful not to open your mouth too much to avoid spillage. I like to brush for a minimum of one minute to allow the charcoal to really do its thing.

Once I’m done brushing I like to go back in with a clean toothbrush and brush off any excess charcoal from my teeth. I seriously saw the difference from just one use after using this so I can only imagine what months will do!

I did also take a before and after picture from just one week of use and can definitely tell a difference! Check out my video below for the before and after plus a full demo of the product 😊

Til next time,

~ Chantel
